I kept coming across this recipe across social media, so I had to try it for myself. I have to say I was VERY impressed. This super simple recipe takes only about 20 minutes and will be your new favorite dish. I honestly preferred using these tortillas instead of a bun, and they reminded me of an In-N-Out burger.
Ingredients for the Smash Burger:
1 lb lean ground beef
Salt and pepper, to taste
For the Taco Assembly:
Mission zero net-carb mini tortillas
Sliced cheddar cheese
Optional toppings:
1 avocado, sliced
1 cup shredded lettuce
1/2 cup diced tomatoes
1/4 cup diced red onion
1/4 cup chopped pickles
Directions
Preparing the Smash Burger: Preheat a cast iron or non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Roll ground beef into 4 equal-sized balls, and then season with salt and pepper.
Smash patties down on the pan with a heavy flat object or spatula (they should be thin) and cook for approximately 2-3 minutes per side, or until nicely browned and cooked to your desired level of doneness.
Add your tortillas to the pan for around 30 seconds a side, add your cheese to briefly melt, then top with your patty and fold.
Add your desired toppings and serve
